Style/Iconography Of My Product

When I decided that my genre was going to be Punk Rock I then wanted to create a mood board which would consist of all of the things you would expect to see in a Punk Rock magazine. On this mood board I have used band logos, images of bands, album artworks, magazine covers, tour posters from different bands and a certain type of theme that the audience for this genre would hopefully like. Here is my mood board;  

Underneath I have put some music videos from different bands that are associated with Punk Rock. Hopefully these music videos will help you get a better understanding of what Punk Rock is like, what the type of people in these bands are like and what they look like and how they would dress. Here are some music videos;  

Blink 182 - Adam's Song

In this music video we can see there are many features that relate to Punk Rock music. Firstly, the dark lighting helps create a dark mood which relates to Punk Rock music, Furthermore, the people in the band are wearing dark clothes which helps represent this genre of music. The use of the props like guitars and microphones allows the viewer to know that this is a music video which has Punk Rock elements because the instruments used relate are often seen in Punk Rock music. This music video shows a variety of different stories where different people are struggling through life which helps represent Punk Rock music because this is the genre where people are always having problems and find it hard to live life. 

Green Day - Wake Me Up When September Ends

This music video is one where the band members aren't in it as much and they have got some actors to help create the music video. In this video there is a couple that get into an argument and this relates to the lyrics in the song - this isn't really Punk Rock related but it is used to help the viewer understand the lyrics of the song. Next, when the band members are in the video we can see that this music video is Punk Rock related because the use of all of the instruments helps to show this, guitars and drums are always seen in Punk Rock music and this is why they relate to this genre. The dark lighting that is used also helps to represent this genre.

My Chemical Romance - Famous Last Words

This music video is perfect for when you want someone to understand what Punk Rock music is. In this music video dark lighting is used all of the time which helps set a depressing mood which is what people that listen to this genre of music feel like, so they like to see things like that. The clothes the band members are wearing also help represent this genre of music because again they are dark which is frequently seen in things that are associated with Punk Rock music. The use of the fire in the background of the band may represent how they feel and how life is hard for some people.

Fall Out Boy - Sugar, We're Going Down

This is another music video where the video mainly has actors in and the band members only appear sometimes. In this music video we can see there is a boy who is different to everyone but it shows a girl stills loves him whatever he is like, this relates to Punk Rock music because a lot of people that listen to this genre of music feel like they are different and other people won't love them because of that but this video shows that you can be loved whatever you are like. When the band members appear in the music video we can tell they are part of a Punk Rock band because they have all of the instruments that most Punk Rock bands have and some of the actions they do may show this because it may look like they are being rebellious.

Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit

This is another music video that has the band members in the whole time, in this one there is again a lot of dark lighting which helps represent the mood of the band members and helps represent how people that listen to this genre of music feel. The clothes the members are wearing also helps to represent that this genre of music is Punk Rock because they are wearing dark clothes. The way these members act also shows that this is a Punk Rock music video because all of the members act rebellious and go against what they are meant to be doing. The instruments that are used also help the viewer to see that this is a Punk Rock music video.
